Washington St. If you’re looking for a good clubbing experience with some great people in a really cool looking place, go no further. They have sweet victorian-esque looking decor, nice seating and lounge area, a decent sized stage and a large bar.

Here’s my beverage shot from my little shoot at Artusi, located on 14th avenue. Described as an old school Italian pinache with a more modern twist. I got to photograph one of their specialty drinks called the Marinetti’s Automobile.

I had the chance to taste it myself and I have to say it has a fairly sweet taste with a lot of punch! Grab one over at Artusi. :)

I avoided getting one or anything like it (Androids and other touch screen smartphones) pretty much till I got a 4s less then a month ago. Honestly I don’t even fully know why I opposed it, I just did. I think it was mainly due to the fact that I didn’t actually have one so I couldn’t really experience what it was like and obviously didn’t make an informed decision about it and instead judged it from afar. But I got to a point where my old cell phone contract was over and I had to decide what kind of phone I was going to get next. To this day I still don’t really like touchscreen texting. I like the buttons! But then you’d ask me why didn’t I just get a smartphone with buttons? Maybe a slider or a cool flip phone. I guess I’ve reached a point where I wanted to get the best phone possible seeing as how I’m going to be stuck with it for 2 years anyhow. I guess the iPhone was my only obvious choice. Don’t get me wrong I’ve had several ipods over the last 8 years, ending with the ipod touch. And I have to admit, the iPhone probably has the best apps. And that’s where I got hooked in, the apps. I have this disgusting obsession for really cool apps which was learned from owning an ipod touch. On the other hand the fact that it literally made EVERYTHING even more convenient kind of freaked me out. At what point do things get too instantaneous?

With the push of a few buttons I can see what people are doing minute by minute on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google+, Pinterest, Tumblr sdjfldjsfkldjskf it goes on and on. I can easily snap a photo of what I’m eating for breakfast, slap on a nice filter to make it look lomo or retro and share it with the entire world in less then 10 seconds. I can just as quickly “check in” somewhere, tag my friends and all my Facebook friends know EXACTLY where I am at that moment in time, follow me on Twitter/like my Facebook business page so you can stay up to date on anything that has to do with my photo business, I have a severe addiction to Tumblr that noone but somebody who has a Tumblr could understand. Maybe I just didn’t like the fact that sharing photo’s got too convenient for me and I just wanted to stubbornly hold onto the old fashioned ways I had been taught. That and I was never one that thought cell phone photo’s could be anymore more then just that, pictures taken on a cell phone. I didn’t like the idea of cell phone pictures being taken seriously and the fact that most people aren’t going to know/understand what those really cool looking filters are emulating. Majority of people using Instagram will not get that those cool looking filters represent old photographic processes or lomography and such. Ah well…maybe this will spark an interest in further learning about it?

I have to say though, Apple really seems to know what the heck they’re doing. I absolutely LOVE my Macbook Pro, wouldn’t have survived all these years without my ipod(s), and now the iPhone has made my life even easier (and more entertaining). *sigh* I’ll admit it now. I love my iPhone. I recently caved and got Instagram. Still not sure how I feel about that yet…

The iPhone has some incredible apps though, like being able to use my phone as a remote trigger for my DSLR, meter ambient light, order pizza, watch tv on pretty much any source there is, mix my own songs, do my own palm readings, talk to it (Siri) and so on and so forth.

I have now accepted that iphoneography is here to stay and probably isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. I will just have to embrace it for what it is and utilize in the best way possible for me and my business and the photo industry overall. That and in it’s pure essence it’s just a great way for people to stay connected and share what’s going on in their lives.

They are called The Holistic Choices and are located in the Fremont area on the corner of 6th and Leary. I got to meet and speak a little bit with Rick and hear his story about how he came to own and operate his own co-op with his wife Roberta. It’s a great, cute, little shop and if you are a green card holder please check it out!

Their bakery/cafe is located right next to Greenlake so you can go down there, grab a cup of joe, a delicious cupcake and enjoy a nice walk around the lake, do some shopping, or maybe visit one of my favorite hot yoga studio’s is also located there called I Love Hot Yoga. :)

Anyways here’s some of my favorites from my shoot over at Cake Envy. It was for the November issue of Dlist magazine.
